where did the time go

Ok, so it's March and I have Valentines stuff on my blog and the last thing I posted was in January or something. Anyway, now I have to catch up so you know what is going on in our lives. Ok, first, It was eighties day at Highland High School so Heidi and Alicia dressed up. I didn't get a pic of Alicia but holy cow does this chick take you back or what?! (Of course she does if you were ever actually there in the first place!!)

Alicia and Connor went to the Sweetheart ball together (Cute)

My niece, Amanda, her husband, Dustin and their little girl, Kenna came to visit for a couple of days! (Awwwwwe)

Also, on March 5th Bruce and I flew to Hawaii for a week. We stayed on the Island of Kauai at the Grand Hyatt. It was so awesome and beautiful. This is a picture of us on our sunset, whale watching cruise. Excuse the hair, it is windy on the ocean!! I loved it so much.

This was the view from our room. It was so beautiful. It rained every day except two but we didn't care, it was amazing anyway.

The grounds of the Hyatt are huge and there are flowers and different plants everywhere. This is a gecko we found along the sidewalk there.

A snail just after a rain storm.

Two of the birds they keep at the hotel in the foyer and the dude that cares for them.

On Kauai they have a grand canyon. I thought I was going to die after that trip because the road had my head twisting and turning along with my stomach.

There are chickens everywhere on this Island. They have become pests for the locals there but for us they were a fun novelty. These were at one of the tourist attractions.

Last weekend was the Snowball dance at Highland High School. The theme was, "Glow Big or Glow Home." As you know, dances now include a day date. For their day date the girls had the boys come over to our house where they had a lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and chips. Then for dessert they had brownies and the guys drank 2 gallons of milk. (WOW). Anyway, they then played games and decorated the shirts that the boys are wearing. The shirts all say, "I am glowing with ____(the name of the girl)", written in florecent paint. After that they went rollerskating where no one could use rollerblades. They had a lot of fun. They went to dinner at Sidney's house and then went to the dance. They had black lights at the dance so all of their white glowed BIG!!

So, I got tagged by one of my friends. This type of tag is called "Picture Tag." What you are supposed to do is pick your fourth folder in your pictures folder, and then pick the fourth picture. You are then supposed to explain what the picture is about. Well, Heidi didn't like the 4th folder or the 4th picture so I let her pick the pic. Here ya go, here is our picture, however, if you know my family, there is no explanation needed. I LOVE MY GIRLS - ALL THREE OF THEM :D

In Search of Snow

Over the holidays my nephew, Alex came to stay with us. Before he come he said he wanted to go sledding but as most of you know the only thing that happened was a lot of melting. So, on the 3rd we went out in search of snow. We first went to Bart's Field which was pure ice, but boy did they go fast down that hill!! After a little while, we decided to go to the top of Mink Creek. There was definately a lot of snow up there. They enjoyed that but what goes down must come up. Needless to say, they got tired in a hurry, but as you can see it was a beautiful clear, cold day- perfect for sledding!

Christmas

So, I know Christmas was a week ago but here are some pitures from our day. Oh, but first, Bruce's birthday is on the 22nd so for his birthday Alicia's friend Mersaydi brought her dog, Gracie over to play. She is a Bloodhound puppy and Bruce thinks she is the coolest thing ever.

If any of you know us very well, you know that we love the movie, "Grumpy Old Men." Now Bruce (our grumpy old man) has a grumpy old hat!!

During the days before Christmas we got quite a bit of snow. So, on Christmas day we got to go out and the four of us shoveled snow. Except for Alicia, she built us a snowman.

OOPS!! I forgot to turn it first so you will have to turn instead!!
Then, in the evening, the missionaries came over for pie and games. This is Elder Johnsen, and Elder Little. They are fun to be around. We will be saying goodbye to Elder Little soon, he goes home to Arizona in four weeks.

Wisdom Teeth

On Friday Alicia had the wonderful opportunity to have her wisdom teeth out. She was absolutely scared to death but Dr. Holm was so nice as was his nurses, that everthing went perfectly well. She had two pulled and the other two had to be cut out. She is really sore and is still tired from the whole ordeal. She is healing nicely and cant wait til she can each chips and salsa again - the mashed potatoes-cream of wheat-yogurt diet is getting old!!

The BIG 40

Oh, boy. Yesterday I turned the BIG 40. It's weird cause I always thought I would dread this day but it wasn't that bad. Bruce panned a get together with a bunch of my friends and it was a lot of fun. I got all the usual gag gifts like a package of attends, baby food, reading glasses and such. But one of my favorites was a poem that my 15 year old nephew wrote for me while traveling from Utah yesterday. Here it is:
Many short years have gone and past,
40 years have gone by fast.
All the times that you once had,
you've stuck it out through the good and the bad.
Through trial and error, you've prevailed,
and along the way picked up some stories to tell.
All those tales of when you were and kid,
all those silly, great things that you did.
Being who you are now, would you take anything back?
Life's greatest lesson was learned from the bad.
I care about and love you, now what we all want to say,
our dear Michelle, Happy 40th b-day.
I thought it was very sweet. For any of you who read this that were at my birthday "WAKE" I just want to say thank you for being such great friends.
